Participants
VOW hopes to give refugee/asylum seekers/undocumented women a voice and means to express themselves during this trying transitional period in their lives. VOW hopes that with the success of this project, they can continue more video workshops to target Asian-Dutch teenage girls, trafficked women, sex workers, economic migrants, etc. By technically and artistically challenging young women, these videos will not only make others aware of their present situation but to allow them to establish positive images for themselves and create a stronger sense of identity.
Undocumented/Politcal Asylum Seeking
Participants for the first workshop held Feb - March 2007 include women from a transitional housing shelter for undocumented women in The Netherlands.
When we first introduced ourselves to the women back in November 2006- we had very positive response from all of the residents there. The only person who was not interested at first was C. A woman from Poland, two women from Iran were also supposed to be a part of the workshop but due to legal hassles and personal issues decided not to join when we came back to start the workshop three months later in February 2007.
