We are the revolution

7 / Dec 2015

The second chapter of our ‘Feminist Film Screening’ took place on the 7th of December 2015 in the premises of Women Lead. The event showcased ‘Todo Bandishen’ and ‘Aapna Haq’, conceived and executed by our participants from the slums of south Delhi. The girls are a part of our partner FAT’s tech centre who have raised their voice to define their lives and for many others who do not get a chance to do so.

‘Todo Bandishen’ meaning ‘Break the chains’ narrates the stories of five girls who have been confronted with early and forced marriage and their struggles with .‘Aapna Haq’ that translates into ‘Our rights’ is a story that circles around the importance of public toilets in lives of young women and the sufferings caused by the lack of its proper management.

The screening progressed with a Q & A, facilitated by the director, Pooja Pant herself. The session moved around physical, mental and emotional development and the effects that gender discrimination has in the lives of young women. Different insensitive situation women are put through in the name of gender duties and other social constructs were discussed too.

VOW Media would like to thank Women Lead for its assistance; young women for participating and everyone else who were generous with their support in making the following chapter of our ‘ Feminist Film Screening ‘ a success story.
